The University of Baguio strengthens its commitment to the community as it expands access to campus spaces to a wider range of community-led and institutional events. This initiative supports SDG 11.7 on providing universal access to safe, inclusive, and accessible public spaces.
Through an existing Memorandum of Agreement with the Professional Regulation Commission-Cordillera Administrative Region, the UB Gym has served as a venue for the oath-taking ceremonies of newly licensed professional teachers on January 14 and July 7, 2024, while UB classrooms have been utilized for board examinations.
The UB campus has also hosted several notable events, including the CHED Internationalization on February 3, 2024; the ASMEPPS National Battle of Math and Science Champions held from March 9 to 10, 2024; STELA’s Politis Outreach Activity with COMELEC Offsite Registration on September 7, 2024; and the Philippine Creative Industries Month from October 16 to 18, 2024. The UB Gym has likewise served as a venue for music and arts-related activities, such as the Hale: Rock the UB Stage concert held on August 30, 2024.

While most venue use with UB as host is provided free of charge, the University collects fees for maintenance, manpower, and other logistical needs for select events—such as the PRC oath-taking ceremonies and classroom use during board examinations. Standard venue rental fees are set by the Campus Planning and Development Office, as approved by the University Vice President for Finance, Dr. Johann Ben Bautista, and the University President, Dr. Javier Herminio D. Bautista.

These efforts have strengthened UB’s role as a partner in local development and cultural preservation, fostering deeper engagement between the University and its home community. By hosting a diverse range of events, from professional recognitions and academic competitions to creative industry celebrations, UB has amplified its impact on education, cultural preservation, and community involvement. The initiative not only supports sustainable development goals but also reinforces UB’s commitment to inclusive and values-driven service.
