Data Privacy Act of 2012 and Cybersecurity Implementation Measures: A Training for the Student Leaders at the University of Baguio

On November 22, 2025 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the Risk Management Office hosted an insightful training session titled “Data Privacy Act of 2012 and Cybersecurity Implementation Measures” at Centennial Hall. The event attracted approximately 110 student leaders from various departments, highlighting the institution’s commitment to fostering awareness and responsibility among future stewards of digital information.

The training featured Mr. Frankxen John Pinzon from the Department of Information and Communications Technology – DICT as the keynote speaker. Mr. Pinzon provided valuable insights into the provisions of the Data Privacy Act of 2012, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding personal data in an increasingly digital world. He also discussed effective cybersecurity measures that organizations and individuals must implement to protect sensitive information from cyber threats.

Throughout the session, student leaders engaged in discussions on best practices for data protection, recognizing their important role in promoting a culture of cybersecurity within their respective communities. The training aimed to empower these future leaders with knowledge and skills essential for maintaining data privacy.

SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as the training encourages cooperation between schools, the government, and students to promote cybersecurity. Working together helps create a safer digital world for everyone.
