The University of Baguio (UB) School of Information Technology (SIT) emerged as Overall Champion at the 5th Regional Robolution 2026: Robotics and Automation Competition and Regional Fibonacci Math and Science Competition, hosted at the UB Cardinals Gymnasium on September 4, 2026. Manaoag National High School finished as Overall 1st Runner-Up, and Benigno V. Aldana National High School took Overall 2nd Runner-Up.
The program officially commenced with inspiring opening remarks delivered by Mr. Joemarie Ituriaga of UB’s Research Innovation, Extension, and Community Outreach Office. Despite a citywide suspension of in-person classes that disrupted the original schedule, organizers and participants compressed the event into a single day without sacrificing its competitiveness.
The competition brought together talent from different institutions across the region, featuring competitive delegations from several academic institutions. Benigno V. Aldana National High School (20 teams, 38 participants, 6 coaches); Jose V. Yap National High School (6 teams, 16 participants, 3 coaches); Manaoag National High School (7 teams, 19 participants, 6 coaches); Saint Louis University (4 teams, 12 participants, 3 coaches); Shaper Robotics (1 team, 3 participants, 1 coach); John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (1 team, 2 participants, 1 coach); Baguio Central University (1 team, 3 participants); Frames of Mind School (1 participant, 1 coach); University of Baguio High School (1 team, 3 participants, 1 coach); and University of Baguio – SIT (17 teams, 48 participants, 2 coaches).

It is also thanks to Erovoutika and their staff: Ms. Edarlyn Deplomo, Ms. Jeramel Marie Llona, Mr. Leonardo De Galicia, and Mr. Lawrence Mathew Reblora, and the sponsorship of Philippine Manufacturing Co. of Murata, Inc., and representatives from Leading Edge International Aviation Academy, Inc. (LEIAAI), namely Ms. Princess Lyka Marie Sabado, Mr. Viennard Concepcion, and Mr. Joel Boy Lopez that made this event possible. Special recognition goes to the panel of judges, including Ms. Sabado and Mr. Concepcion of LEIAAI alongside DOST-CAR representatives Mr. Mark Jenesis Laory and Mr. Ryan Baniaga, whose expertise helped evaluate the top creative technologies for the Freestyle Innovation category.
Representing the host institution, the computer engineering students from the SIT showcased their technical prowess and expertise in robotics under the expert guidance and coaching of Mr. Julius Caesar Monico and Mr. Ron Leo Manangan. The following teams delivered an impressive performance across multiple event categories:

The 5th Regional Robolution likewise embodies the School of Information Technology’s mission and objectives:
- Applies and innovates methodologies in developing and managing computing solutions – Students designed and built robotics systems across multiple categories.
- Adapts to fast-changing technologies in diverse environments – Competing in sumo, line-following, soccer, drone, and freestyle categories exposed students to varied platforms.
- Exemplifies desirable behavior and attributes – Teams competed with sportsmanship and discipline throughout.
- Initiates and participates in community-based activities that contribute to sustainable development – Hosting the event extended STEM opportunities to schools across the region.
- Utilizes leadership qualities for commendable performance in the field of endeavor – The championship reflects the leadership and skill UB’s students bring to their field.
The 5th Regional Robolution also reflects the University of Baguio’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 4 (Quality Education) – The event gave students hands-on experience applying STEM concepts in robotics and automation.
- SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) – Participants designed, built, and troubleshot robotics systems, building real innovation and problem-solving skills.
- SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) – The event brought together schools, universities, industry partners, and government agencies, showing how academe, industry, and government can work together to advance STEM education.
Beyond bringing home glory to the school, the wins earned the champions an opportunity to represent Team Philippines on the international stage and compete in Robolution Dubai on November 14-16, 2026, as well as the Robolution Nationals at Makati, Philippines on December 11-13, 2026.
