UB School of Information Technology Faculty and Students Achieve 100% Passing Rate in AI Robotics Certification

by Meynard Soriano and Ron Leo Manangan

BAGUIO CITY, September 5, 2026 — Faculty and students of the School of Information Technology (SIT) of the University of Baguio achieved a 100% passing rate in the AI Robotics Certification examination administered by Erovoutika, with Thalialyn Nuela Cuenco, a BS Computer Engineering student, earning a perfect score. The result highlights the university’s commitment to equipping its learners and educators with industry-relevant competencies in robotics and artificial intelligence.

The certification examination served as the culminating activity of two concurrent robotics training initiatives held on September 5. The activities provided participants with theoretical instruction, hands-on programming experience, and exposure to emerging robotics technologies.

The DOST-Erovoutika Robolution Workshop, led by Leonardo De Galicia, a trainer and robotics expert from Erovoutika, brought together faculty members from the University of Baguio College and High School, along with a faculty member from Baguio Central University (BCU). Participants were trained in robotics programming and given hands-on experience in developing and operating robotic systems.

Concurrently, Lawrence Matthew Reblora, also from Erovoutika, led the AI Robotics Training attended by Computer Engineering students of the School of Information Technology. The training focused on strengthening students’ understanding and practical application of robotics and artificial intelligence concepts.

As part of the activities, Erovoutika provided hands-on training on the new Erobot PCB, as well as the Erobot line follower and mobile-controlled robot. These activities allowed participants to apply programming concepts through direct interaction with robotic hardware.

The concurrent training sessions culminated in the AI Robotics Certification examination, administered by Erovoutika. The 100% passing rate among SIT students and faculty, together with the student who obtained a perfect score, reflects the value of combining structured instruction, practical training, and competency-based assessment.

For the University of Baguio, the achievement reinforces its continuing commitment to developing technologically capable students and faculty members who are prepared to engage with advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics, and other emerging fields.

The concurrent DOST-Erovoutika Robolution Workshop and AI Robotics Training align with the University of Baguio’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The activities advanced SDG 4 by providing students and faculty with structured instruction, hands-on robotics programming experience, and competency-based assessment through the AI Robotics Certification examination. The 100% passing rate, including one student who earned a perfect score, reflects the participants’ demonstrated learning outcomes.

The use of the new Erobot PCB, Erobot line follower, and mobile-controlled robot supports SDG 9 by promoting technological innovation and practical exposure to robotics and artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, the collaboration between the University of Baguio and Erovoutika, together with the participation of faculty members from UB College and High School, SIT Computer Engineering students, and a BCU faculty member, advances SDG 17 through knowledge-sharing and institutional partnership.

The initiative also supports SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by strengthening technical competencies relevant to emerging industries and future professional opportunities.
