Written by Angelo V. Manis

The ABM Club of the University of Baguio Science High School successfully conducted a meaningful community outreach at Liang Primary School, Itogon, Benguet, held last March 24, 2026. Spearheaded by ABM Club Adviser Teacher Jojo Ivan Inuguidan and accompanied by Ma’am Esther Masielle Flores, the initiative combined financial literacy education with the donation of essential school supplies, creating a holistic and impactful learning experience for young learners.

The outreach aimed to introduce elementary students to the basics of financial literacy, including the value of saving, budgeting, and responsible spending. Through interactive discussions and simple, engaging activities, ABM student leaders served as mentors, sharing practical knowledge that can help learners develop wise financial habits at an early age. This initiative not only strengthened the confidence of ABM students in applying their academic learning in real-life contexts but also fostered a sense of leadership, responsibility, and community service.

In addition to the financial literacy session, the club also donated school supplies to support the academic needs of the learners, ensuring that students are better equipped for their daily school activities. This act of generosity further emphasized the importance of education equity and support for underserved communities. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the outreach supported SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 1 (No Poverty), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Overall, the activity highlighted the ABM Club’s vital role in empowering young learners not only through academic knowledge but also through practical life skills that promote financial awareness and lifelong learning.
