The journey from being a student to serving the country takes hard work, discipline, and a willingness to keep learning. For ASN Jabez A. Lumazoc, PN, his time at the University of Baguio became the foundation that helped prepare him for a career in the Philippine Navy.
A proud alumnus of the School of Business Administration and Accountancy, ASN Lumazoc earned his degree in Operations Management and graduated in June 2024 with the Notable Leadership Award. This recognition reflected the leadership, dedication, and responsibility he showed during his time as a student.
His years at the University of Baguio helped prepare him for life beyond college. Aside from learning the principles of operations management, he developed confidence, discipline, teamwork, and leadership—qualities that continue to guide him in his military career. The experiences and opportunities he had at UB gave him a strong foundation as he stepped into the challenges of serving in the Philippine Navy.
After graduation, ASN Lumazoc joined the Philippine Navy, where he continues to excel in both training and service. He earned Top 5 in the Sailor Basic Course, showing his determination and strong performance during his early military training. He also achieved Top 2 in the Basic Weather Course, highlighting his skills in meteorology, an important field that helps support safe and successful naval operations.
To further improve his expertise, he completed NORBIT Training and Numerical Modeling Training, strengthening his knowledge in weather systems and forecasting tools that help support naval missions.
Today, as a Meteorologist and Logistician, ASN Lumazoc combines technical skills with operational support to help ensure that missions are carried out safely and efficiently. His role reflects the importance of being adaptable, dependable, and always ready to serve.
Beyond his duties in uniform, ASN Lumazoc also finds time to take part in activities that support meaningful causes. On August 30, 2026, he joined the PMC Kabayanihan Run 2026 at the BNS Grandstand in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. Held in celebration of National Heroes’ Day, the event honored the sacrifices of Philippine Marines while recognizing everyday heroes, including teachers, healthcare workers, parents, workers, and community frontliners. The run also raised funds for educational assistance for Marine scholars, support for the children of fallen and wounded Marines, programs of the Philippine Marine Corps Foundation, and Marines serving in border islands and the West Philippine Sea.

Looking back, ASN Lumazoc’s journey shows how the lessons, values, and leadership opportunities he gained at the University of Baguio continue to shape his professional path. His BSBA major in Operations Management helped him develop skills in planning, organizing, problem-solving, and managing resources, which are also important in his work as a Logistician. The knowledge he gained from the program has helped him become more prepared and organized when handling responsibilities and making decisions in his career.
From being recognized as a student leader to earning distinction in military training and giving back through community initiatives, he continues to live out the values of service, excellence, and leadership. His story is an inspiration to fellow UB alumni and future students, proving that the lessons learned in the classroom can become the foundation for a meaningful career dedicated to serving others and the nation.
