Advancing its commitment to global academic excellence, four representatives from the University of Baguio (UB) participated in the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (NJYGRF) 2026 at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) in Haryana, India.
The one-year program brings young scholars to India for an immersive journey of research, collaboration, and cultural discovery, highlighted by a one-month residency that commenced on June 10, 2026, with an inaugural ceremony led by Prof. (Dr.) Rahul Bhandari, Associate Professor and Director of Institutional Advancement and Strategic Global Engagement (IASGE).

The UB delegation, comprising Dr. Beverly Laltoog (Director, Office of Student Affairs), Dr. Adelle Sanchez (Faculty, School of Natural Sciences), Ms. Karla Gamongan Cayasfon (Faculty, School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety), and Ms. Rachel Grace Liclican (Faculty, School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management), joined nearly 130 fellows from 26 countries. Concluding their residency on July 7, 2026, the delegates engaged in interdisciplinary sessions, research writing, research publication strategies, collaborative cluster sessions, and cultural immersion while benchmarking research best practices and pedagogies with global scholars and educators across diverse disciplines.
By collaborating with international peers, the research fellows aim to produce high-impact scholarly outputs that address local and global challenges, ultimately contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, they are committed to facilitating research mentoring for early-career faculty and non-teaching researchers at UB, thereby strengthening peer synergy while building internal research capacity.
The fellows’ engagement in the NJYGRF reinforced UB’s steadfast drive to build meaningful international academic partnerships, directly advancing SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. By embedding these cross-cultural insights, pedagogical innovations, and research methodologies into UB’s core curriculum and institutional framework, the university continues to elevate the quality of higher education while nurturing sustainable, long-term global networks across academic disciplines.
