UBLES Holds Joint BSP–GSP Investiture Ceremony: Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders

Written By Aladin A. Callejo, MAEd

The University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES) successfully conducted its Joint BSP and GSP Investiture Ceremony on October 20, 2025, with the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders.”

The day began with a Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Marion Nebres, setting a solemn and meaningful atmosphere for the event. The celebration was solemnly assisted by the UBCMAS servers, with the UB Voices choir gracefully leading the congregation in hymns of praise. This was followed by the Investiture Ceremony, where scouts officially pledged their commitment to the scouting ideals of duty to God, country, and others.

The activity aimed to transform young learners into responsible and disciplined individuals, help them develop a deeper appreciation for service and teamwork, and empower them to lead with compassion and integrity—integral to the Scouting movement.

Connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The investiture ceremony strongly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by integrating leadership, values education, and community service in youth development:

  • SDG 4 – Quality Education: transforming education through holistic and character-based learning experiences.
  • SDG 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions: helping foster responsible citizenship, peace, and ethical leadership among young scouts.
  • SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: empowering collaboration among schools, families, and the scouting community to nurture future leaders.

Through the scouting program, UBLES continues to transform, help, and empower learners to become active contributors to a just, peaceful, and sustainable society.

Acknowledgment of Participants and Partners

Around 300 scouts from Grades 1 and 4, Kinder representatives, together with their parents and guardians, actively participated in the investiture ceremony, officially marking the beginning of their journey in the Scouting movement. The event was likewise participated in by the BSP SOFAD 2025 scouts, Grade 6 GSP representatives, who showed their support and enthusiasm throughout the activity. The ceremony was facilitated by the scout leaders, teachers, staff, and STELA student teachers, whose guidance and cooperation ensured the event’s smooth and meaningful flow.

Ms. Jennifer T. Bugtong, GSP City Council Executive, who served as the guest speaker, delivered an inspiring message that encouraged young scouts to uphold the scouting principles and live out the theme “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders.” Her words reminded everyone that leadership begins with small acts of service and grows through commitment and courage.

The program was spearheaded by the UBLES Scout Leaders, Sctr. Aladin A. Callejo, BSP Scout Leader,

Mrs. Jemmabel L. Santiago and Mrs. Hazel Joy B. Cabalhin, GSP Scout Leaders. Their dedication and teamwork ensured a meaningful and well-coordinated ceremony that truly reflected the spirit of Scouting.

Highlighting the Impact

The Joint BSP–GSP Investiture Ceremony was more than a formal initiation—it was a celebration of growth, unity, and service. The event strengthened the partnership between home, school, and community, while nurturing the values of discipline, leadership, and integrity among the scouts. For the newly invested members, the ceremony marked the start of their lifelong journey as scouts—leaders in training who will continue to live by the Scout Oath, Promise and Law. True to its theme, “Shaping Tomorrow’s Leaders,” the event reflected UBLES’s commitment to developing young individuals who serve with heart, lead with purpose, and strive to make their community and nation better each day.
