In strong alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, the University of Baguio continues to advance its commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and pedestrian-friendly campus environment. Recognizing the importance of walkability in promoting both safety and sustainability, the university has implemented
comprehensive measures that prioritize pedestrian access and ensure the smooth and secure movement of students, employees, and visitors.
A key component of this initiative is the deployment of UB Marshals in coordination with the City Engineering Office (CEO), Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barangay Lower General Luna. These marshals are strategically stationed in critical areas surrounding the university to implement and maintain traffic safety protocols, pedestrian access management, and crowd control measures. Their presence ensures that pedestrian movement
remains orderly and secure, especially during peak hours when foot and vehicle traffic converge near the campus.
UB Marshals are positioned at various high-traffic zones, including Assumption Road, Anacleto Diaz Street, the intersection of Assumption Road and General Luna Road, and several pedestrian crossings near General Luna and Mabini Streets, as well as in front of Gate 1 of the Gonzaga Campus and SLU-LES. These locations were identified based on traffic flow studies and student mobility patterns to ensure the most effective coverage and protection for the UB
community.

Through this coordinated effort, the University of Baguio reinforces its dedication to sustainability, community safety, and responsible urban living. By prioritizing pedestrian access and safety, UB not only enhances the daily experience of its constituents but also contributes meaningfully to the broader vision of making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable, as envisioned by SDG 11.
