The University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS) successfully held a two-part Journalism Training Outreach aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of campus journalists and school paper advisers from Quezon Hill Elementary School for the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference, and targeting SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The first part of the training featured seasoned UBSHS journalism advisers and coaches who led insightful sessions covering the fundamentals of journalism, having shared practical tips and real-world examples to help young journalists develop a strong foundation in media literacy and responsible journalism.

In the second part, the outreach took a peer-to-peer approach as the UBSHS campus journalists themselves took the lead conducting workshops and hands-on activities designed to engage the Quezon Hill Elementary campus journalists, encouraging them to apply the concepts learned through interactive exercises and collaborative discussions. This session also provided an opportunity for the UBSHS students to mentor and inspire their younger counterparts.

The training outreach was warmly received by the Quezon Hill Elementary campus journalists and their school paper advisers, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from both expert coaches and fellow student journalists. The activity aimed not only to build journalistic skills but also to foster a spirit of community and collaboration among future media practitioners.

UBSHS continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering young learners through educational initiatives that promote critical thinking, effective communication all attaining SDG 4 and responsible media engagement.
