UBSHS Stakeholders Forge Future-Ready Curriculum in Tripartite Review

Written By Dr. Veronica M. Bito

Stakeholders of the University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS) convened at the school’s Function Hall today, February 9, 2026, for a tripartite curriculum review aimed at strengthening academic programs and enhancing the school’s global competitiveness.

The consultation brought together alumni, parents and guardians, and faculty members to collectively evaluate the school’s educational framework in response to evolving industry demands, higher education expectations, and national curriculum standards. The activity formally opened with an orientation led by Dr. Thea Suaco, Principal of UBSHS, who outlined the objectives, scope, and significance of the curriculum review. She emphasized the importance of collaborative governance in education, underscoring how stakeholder engagement ensures that curricular reforms remain relevant, responsive, and future-ready.

Representing parents and guardians, Ms. Jasmin Erece, UBSHS–PTA President, actively shared insights on learner development and support systems. She highlighted the need for learner-centered approaches that balance academic rigor with student well-being, advocating for programs that nurture not only intellectual growth but also emotional resilience, values formation, and holistic development.

Key discussions focused on the integration of inclusive teaching practices, differentiated instructional strategies, and the further enhancement of science-oriented and research-based programs to sustain institutional quality assurance. Faculty members presented current syllabi and instructional approaches, while alumni—who participated both face-to-face and online, provided valuable feedback on how their specialized training in science, research, and critical thinking translated into success in higher education and professional fields. Their perspectives offered concrete evidence of program strengths and areas for innovation, particularly in preparing students for interdisciplinary and globally competitive careers.

This collaborative initiative strongly aligns with the school’s commitment to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all, as well as lifelong learning opportunities. Through curriculum review and stakeholder participation, UBSHS reinforces SDG 4 principles by ensuring access to relevant learning experiences, promoting effective teaching practices, supporting diverse learners, and cultivating competencies essential for responsible citizenship and sustainable development.

Overall, the tripartite curriculum review reflects UBSHS’s continuous pursuit of academic excellence and social responsibility, reaffirming its mission to producegraduates who are not only scientifically competent but also ethically grounded, globally aware, and prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
