Director Shigehiro’s visit facilitated a fruitful discussion on potential opportunities for student and faculty development through the embassy’s various advocacy programs. SIHTM Dean Ms. Jenelyn Mangangey-Magpatoc, along with program chairs and faculty members, shared the school’s initiatives in Japanese language learning and cultural exchange. Director Shigehiro also highlighted the embassy’s interventions and programs designed to help further strengthen these initiatives.

During the discussion, it was also noted that UB students have participated in the embassy’s programs, including the JENESYS Programme, a 10-day youth exchange initiative aimed at strengthening friendship and diplomatic relations among Southeast Asian youths. Additionally, a UB alumnus has taken part in the Ship for Southeast Asian and Japanese Youth Program (SSEAYP), which promotes friendship and mutual understanding between Japanese and ASEAN youth.

The courtesy visit was arranged through networks and linkage initiatives of SIHTM faculty member and Nihongo teacher, Ms. Joan Florague.
