The University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES) wrapped up its much-anticipated Academic Olympics and Nutrition Month Celebration with resounding success. Held from March 24 to April 7, 2025, the two-week celebration highlighted academic excellence and health awareness through a variety of exciting and meaningful activities.
With the theme “Through PPAN, let’s work together on nutrition security for everyone!”, this year’s celebration emphasized the importance of academic achievement while also promoting proper nutrition, wellness, and creativity among learners, aligning the program to UN’s Sustainable Development Goals 3: Good Health and Well being and 4: Quality Education.
The Academic Olympics featured a series of mind-challenging activities, headlined by the Quiz Bee competitions across different grade levels. Students showcased their knowledge and quick thinking in subjects such as Math, Science, English, Filipino, MAPEH, and Makabansa, creating a vibrant and intellectually competitive atmosphere. The Coloring Activity where young Preschool artists expressed their art skills through colorful artworks.
Meanwhile, the Nutrition Month Celebration brought out the artistic and culinary talents of UBLES pupils. Activities included:
- Collage Making – which allowed learners to creatively illustrate nutrition concepts using mixed media.
- Preparing a Healthy Snack – a hands-on activity promoting practical knowledge on nutritious food choices.
- Nutri Jingle Competition – where classes composed and performed jingles that highlighted key messages of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (PPAN).
- Vegetable Salad Making – encouraging healthy eating habits through a fun and collaborative culinary challenge.
The culminating program held on April 7, 2025, at the UBLES Quadrangle featured awarding ceremonies, performances, and recognition of students’ efforts and achievements. The event was graced by teachers, parents, and alumni who served as judges and supporters of the various competitions.
These activities not only reinforced classroom learning and core values but also strengthened camaraderie, sportsmanship, and the holistic development of UBLES learners.
As the curtains close on this year’s celebration, the entire UBLES community extends its heartfelt congratulations to all participants, organizers, and winners. Their dedication and enthusiasm truly made this event a memorable and inspiring success.
