The third-year Political Science students of the University of Baguio (UB), through the guidance of Mrs. Marianne Basoyang, recently hosted an insightful exhibit at the UB Gymnasium together with the HCORDI Culmination, which not only showcased their artistic talents but also introduced the global agenda—the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—alongside the university’s initiatives aimed at achieving these global objectives. This exhibit not only serves as an artistic expression but also as an educational tool, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and community engagement in addressing pressing global challenges.

University of Baguio, Baguio City – The SDG exhibit, organized outside the university’s gymnasium, featured the core of the exhibition–the student-informative graphics, each depicting a particular SDG. These sought to encode complex ideas into visually attractive and simple-to-understand formats for a heterogeneous audience. While providing vital information regarding the goals, each piece also manifested the students’ profound comprehension of the relation between those objectives and local as well as global contexts. Through these creative displays, the students demonstrated how the university integrates sustainability and social responsibility into its academic system and daily practices, contributing to global progress. The originality and celebration reflected in their work stamped their dedication to making a difference.

The University of Baguio has exhibited great efforts in aligning its programs and activities with the SDGs, hence the overall output of the exhibit. One of the focus areas is Quality Education or SDG 4. The UB strives to provide high-quality education that helps students learn the skills needed for responsible citizenship and active participation in society. This pledge entails a curriculum that stresses critical thinking, civic engagement, and social responsibility.

The impact of this photographic exhibition is not just artistic; it becomes a tool for measuring community awareness in terms of sustainability development. Through this form of engagement with the public, contribute to encouraging steps toward the realization of the SDGs in their particular local context. This project highlights the movement of the university to develop behaviors and thoughts in its students toward a culture of sustainability and social responsibility.

With the success of the exhibit, the third-year Political Science students have attempted an innovative photo exhibit combining art and advocacy to demonstrate how schools can be a great tool in the fight for sustainable development. They have set a precedent for future generations to continue promoting awareness and action for the SDGs, proving that the path to a sustainable future starts with informed and empowered individuals. Their artwork speaks about important global concerns while showing that local efforts can be part of the process toward bigger objectives. This exhibit, then, lays the ground for a more sustainable tomorrow while motivating students and community members to make effective moves toward a better world.
