On April 27, 2024, the School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) continued their outreach activities in Barangay Lucnab, teaching residents how to utilize fruits and vegetables from their backyard gardens effectively. This initiative also involved collaboration with exchange students from Khon Kaen University, who contributed their expertise in promoting healthy food practices.

The outreach aimed to involve the community and share specialized knowledge through a series of demonstrations. Faculty speaker Mr. Mark Anthony Santos led a session on creating nutritious fruit and vegetable beverages, incorporating ingredients such as lettuce, cucumbers, strawberries, oranges, and pomelo. Culinary students Ms. Froselle Agwiking, Ms. Maria Ellena Bunoan, and Ms. Trixie De Guzman demonstrated the preparation of cherry tomato tanghulu and vegetable croquettes. Additionally, exchange students from Khon Kaen University introduced participants to Moo Ma Nao (Pork with Lime) and papaya salad.

These demonstrations had a significant impact, providing participants with new ideas for home cooking and potential business ventures. The enthusiasm was evident as participants eagerly requested complete recipes for the beverages and dishes presented.

This initiative aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By empowering the community with practical skills and knowledge, SIHTM fosters sustainable development and community resilience.
