The University of Baguio (UB) Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) successfully hosted a heartfelt and inspiring Testimonial Luncheon on October 20, 2025, at the Diamond Hall, Hotel Supreme, as part of the event titled Shining Stars of Success: A Celebration Across the Cosmos. The event honored UB Accountancy alumni who are now Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and recognized fourth-year Accountancy students currently undergoing their internship and integrated review program.

Testimonial Luncheon Project Heads and Co-heads

The event was organized and led by Project Heads Nikole Santos and Krishia Mae Bigtas, together with Co-Heads Justine Payumo and Sonya Montero. The luncheon aimed to ignite the passion of Accountancy students and inspire them to persevere in their journey toward earning the CPA title. It was attended by 2nd to 4th year Accountancy students, along with faculty members from the School of Business Administration and Accountancy, including professors from both the Business Administration and Accountancy departments who actively took part in showing their support and guidance.

During the program, University of Baguio alumni shared their journeys toward becoming CPAs, reflecting on the challenges, sacrifices, and victories that shaped their personal and professional growth. The esteemed speakers included Sir Franklin Jan Wayang, CPA, Sir John Paul Gonzales, CPA, Sir Darren Borromeo, CPA, Miss Cherry Ann Guitoc, CPA, Miss Mitzi Joy Gagto, CPA, Sir Clyde John Borromeo, CPA, and Miss Anna Claire Muñoz, CPA, each imparting insights rooted in perseverance, discipline, humility, and lifelong learning.

Their stories emphasized that success in the accounting profession is built not only on intelligence but also on integrity, diligence, and community support. Students were reminded that those who once sat in their place are now thriving in their careers, proving that effort and determination make aspirations attainable.

The event also meaningfully aligned with global development efforts. By fostering motivation, academic determination, and professional growth, the Testimonial Luncheon contributed to Quality Education (SDG 4), promoting continuous learning and academic excellence among Accountancy students. It also supported Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) by showcasing real success stories of alumni who have established meaningful careers in the field of accountancy. In addition, the program strengthened Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), as it bridged the connection between alumni and current students, nurturing mentorship, collaboration, and ongoing community support within the Accountancy department.

As the event concluded, students left the venue with renewed determination and a clearer vision of the professional paths they aim to pursue. The UB JPIA Testimonial Luncheon stood not only as a celebration of achievement but also as a testament to the transformative power of education in shaping lives, building careers, and sustaining supportive academic communities.
