Promoting Healthy Smiles for Lifelong Wellness
Bright smiles and happy faces filled the classrooms of the University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES) as Nursery and Kindergarten pupils participated in a fun and educational Toothbrushing Activity on November 7, 2025, in collaboration with the University of Baguio School of Dentistry.
The activity aimed to teach young learners the importance of proper oral hygiene through a hands-on learning experience. Dentistry student-volunteers facilitated interactive demonstrations on the correct toothbrushing techniques and shared simple, age-appropriate tips for maintaining clean and healthy teeth.

Building Healthy Habits Early
The session went beyond mere instruction—it encouraged active participation and joyful learning. Pupils eagerly brushed along with the volunteers, applying what they learned while engaging in lively discussions and storytelling about healthy foods that strengthen teeth, such as fruits, vegetables, and milk. The experience made oral care an enjoyable daily routine rather than a task, helping children understand that good dental hygiene contributes to their overall well-being.

Partnership for Health Education
This collaborative activity highlights the strong partnership between the UB Laboratory Elementary School and the UB School of Dentistry in advancing community health education. By involving future dental professionals in outreach and child-centered learning, the activity strengthened UB’s mission of fostering holistic development and community involvement among its learners and partners.
Contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3)
The Toothbrushing Activity directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which promotes healthy lives and well-being for all ages. Through this simple yet meaningful initiative, UB continues to instill health awareness at an early age—empowering children to develop lifelong habits that contribute to their personal and community wellness.
A Step Toward Lifelong Healthy Smiles
The success of this activity reflects UB’s ongoing commitment to promoting preventive healthcare, education, and sustainability. By nurturing responsible health habits among its youngest learners, the University of Baguio ensures that each smile becomes a symbol of good health, confidence, and well-being—today and for years to come.
