Early education lays the foundation for lifelong learning, and even the simplest acts of generosity can create a lasting impact. Recognizing the importance of nurturing young minds, the School of Nursing’s Extension and Community Outreach Service, together with its S.A.L.U.N.-A.T. initiative, recently donated a collection of learning materials to Pinsao Child Development Center. It is a gesture rooted in compassion, empowerment, and community spirit. From alphabets to tarpaulins, to colorful numbers and counting tools, and brochures, each item represents an opportunity to explore, to imagine, and to grow. This small contribution is more than just an offering; it’s a celebration of curiosity, a shared belief in the power of education, and a step toward a brighter future for every child in their care.

The donated learning materials were officially turned over on July 7, 2025, to Ms. Cynthia Daweg, the daycare teacher overseeing Pinsao Development Center, in the presence of Barangay Kagawad Luz Bagayawa. Representing the University of Baguio School of Nursing, faculty members Fawn Maday-a and Aissa Pater graciously and joyfully led the handover.
This initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education: Ensure that all girls and boys have access to quality early childhood development, care and pre-primary education so that they are ready for primary education.; Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well Being: Quality early learning environments promote mental and emotional development; Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities: Access to learning tools helps bridge gaps for underserved communities and Sustainable Development Goal 17: Partnership for the Goals.
This initiative stands as a powerful testament to the University of Baguio’s unwavering dedication to championing sustainable, community-driven programs. By leading with purpose and compassion, the university reinforces its role not just as an educational institution but as a transformative force for lasting change across generations.
