March 25, 2025 – The University of Baguio’s Cardinals Gym buzzed with excitement as Fusion 13: Battle of the Bands brought music and energy to the stage. Among the fierce contenders, the SBAA band 11:56 made a lasting impression, claiming the 1st Runner-Up spot in a night filled with talent, passion, and electrifying performances. Composed of six dedicated musicians — Al Vincent T. Medriano (lead guitarist), Lanz Emilio F. Gawe (rhythm guitarist), Gwyneth May R. Payang (vocalist), Joshua B. Roberto (keyboardist), and Jeshuah Leigh E. Juan (drummer)—11:56 captivated the audience with their tight coordination, heartfelt performance, and undeniable chemistry.
The Road to the Stage
The band’s journey to Fusion 13 was nothing short of remarkable. With only Fridays and Saturdays available for practice throughout March, they had to navigate conflicting schedules and academic responsibilities. Some members had to juggle class requirements and review sessions, making it challenging to align their practice times. However, their commitment to both their studies and their music only fueled their determination to give their best on stage. Despite the challenges, 11:56 stayed determined, refining their performance to make every note count. Their dedication paid off as they took the stage with a mesmerizing setlist, featuring Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi by BINI, Unti-unti by Up Dharma Down, and Marilag by Dionela. With a flawless fusion of instruments and Gwyneth’s soulful vocals, they left the audience completely captivated.

A Performance to Remember
One of the most unforgettable moments of the night was the striking harmony between Al Vincent and Lanz’s guitars. Their synergy was impeccable, effortlessly weaving melodies that filled the gym with excitement. The crowd went wild when Lanz executed the signature “Dionela” pose during their performance of Marilag, a moment that became a highlight of the night.
The SBAA community rallied behind 11:56, with overwhelming support from the SBAA student body, JPIA and JAME officers, and even interns from the City Tourism and Special Events Office, who attended the event alongside their supervisor. Their cheers and encouragement fueled the energy in the gym, making 11:56’s performance even more electrifying.
A Well Deserved Recognition
While facing off against some of the most skilled photo bands in other schools and departments, 11:56 produced a moment that both showcased incredible seamlessness and connectivity. It was more than a musical arrangement—it was an exhilarating showcase of raw passion, deep emotion, and universality that resonates true enjoyment with the audience. Though they would go on to take 1st Runner-Up position, it truly was a victory for 11:56, who has become a mainstay of the flowing music scene at the University of Baguio. But more than just a competition, their journey was a testament to perseverance, teamwork, and the unbreakable spirit of student musicians who continue to push forward, no matter the challenge. And for 11:56, this is only the beginning.
The Future of ’11:56′ band
With this milestone under their belt, one thing is clear — this is only the beginning for 11:56. The SBAA band has left an unforgettable mark, and the university community will be eagerly waiting to see what they bring to the stage next.
