In collaboration with all organizations, JPIA, JFINEX, JEC, JAME, and the SBAA Student Body, the SBAA proudly participated in DAPIT UBIANO 2025. This three-day celebration marked the University of Baguio’s 77th Founding Anniversary from September 8 to 10, 2025. This year’s theme was “University Week: Retracing Footsteps in the Familiar.” SBAA showcased its vision, “SBAA in Bloom,” celebrating heritage, unity, and creativity rooted in the rich culture of Baguio City.

Objectives of the Event

SBAA’s participation in DAPIT UBIANO 2025 aimed to (1) strengthen friendships among students, faculty, and organizations, (2) highlight the creativity and talents of SBAA students through various competitions, and (3) deepen appreciation for Baguio City’s cultural and historical heritage. Through teamwork, SBAA transformed the campus into a lively hub of learning, celebration, and community pride.

Activities and Highlights

Staying true to its theme, SBAA hosted a series of competitions and exhibits. These included the Organizational Booth Fair, School Marketing Video Campaign, Mini-Vlogging Contest, Icons: Variety Competition, and the SDG Series featuring a PSA Advocacy and Photography Contest. Students also expressed their creativity through the Outfit of the Day Competition, adding personality and vibrancy to the festivities.

A key highlight was the SBAA Booth Exhibit, which reflected this year’s theme of “Retracing Footsteps in the Familiar.” Designed as a space for fun and cultural rediscovery, the booth featured engaging activities such as: Bottle Flip Challenge with Trivia: This activity mixed physical challenges with knowledge. Participants who missed the flip answered questions about Baguio City’s history and culture. Memory Game: This featured images of Baguio’s cultural patterns, landmarks, artifacts, and notable figures, encouraging participants to reconnect with the city’s essence. These interactive activities provided an innovative way to connect UBians with the heritage of Baguio City while promoting school pride and friendships.

Connection to the SDGs

Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities Target 11.4 – Protect and safeguard cultural and natural heritage; as the booth highlighted Baguio’s cultural identity through interactive games, exhibits, and activities that raised awareness and appreciation of local heritage. SDG 4: Quality Education Target 4.7 – Education for sustainable development; by including interactive and educational games, SBAA offered participants meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom, showing that education can be enjoyable and impactful.

Achievements and Impact

SBAA celebrated notable victories during University Week: Mr. Chander Llanfair Gabriel won the Photography Contest, showcasing creativity and sustainability through his lens. Mr. Justine Payumo and Ms. Liezelle Castellano were crowned Champions in the Mini-Vlogging Contest, highlighting SBAA’s strength in storytelling, imagination, and teamwork.

The immediate impact of these activities was evident in the active involvement of students, their deeper connection with Baguio’s culture, and the pride in showcasing SBAA’s collective talents. In the long term, these experiences will strengthen partnerships across SBAA organizations, foster cultural awareness, and enhance institutional pride, contributing to the university’s legacy of excellence.

As DAPIT UBIANO 2025 concluded, SBAA left a lasting mark, not just through its competitive victories but in how it celebrated Baguio City’s cultural richness and the values of collaboration, sustainability, and unity. SBAA in Bloom truly embodied both the heritage and the forward-looking spirit of the University of Baguio community.
