The School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) held its General Assembly on October 5, 2025, at the UB Gymnasium, marking the official beginning of the academic year. The event brought together students, faculty, and staff, offering a platform for connection, collaboration, and shared vision as the community prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

The program included a varied and engaging series of presentations that catered to the diverse needs of the SBAA community. Highlights included departmental updates, an introduction to student services, and motivational talks to inspire students as they embark on their academic path. Through these sessions, the SBAA community gained important insights and practical knowledge to navigate the year ahead with confidence and determination.

Department Policies and Operations

SBAA Dean Mr. John Balanquit, CPA, DBA, presented the department’s policies and academic procedures, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity, professional development, and support services available to students. By laying a strong foundation of transparency and accountability, SBAA highlighted its role in advancing SDG 4: Quality Education, ensuring that students are equipped with the right resources to succeed academically and professionally.

Student Services Orientation

Students were introduced to the various support services offered at the University of Baguio to enhance both their academic and personal growth. The session not only guided students on how to effectively navigate their university experience but also emphasized the importance of holistic development, encouraging students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. It highlighted the significance of community involvement, ensuring that students are equipped with the tools to succeed while fostering a strong sense of belonging within the university.

Introduction of SBAA Faculty, Staff, and Organizations

To help students, particularly freshmen, feel more connected to the SBAA community, the assembly featured an introduction of the faculty members, administrative staff, and student organization leaders. This gave students a chance to see the faces behind the names and build familiarity with the people who will guide and support them. By fostering this early connection, the SBAA hoped to strengthen the sense of community and support, allowing students to navigate their university journey with confidence and ease.

International On-the-Job Training Updates

One of the highlights was the sharing of experiences from an SBAA student who joined the International On-the-Job Training Program. They recounted the valuable lessons gained from working abroad, including adaptability, resilience, and intercultural competence. This initiative not only enhances student learning but also strengthens UB’s global linkages with partner institutions and industries. By fostering these international collaborations, SBAA contributes to the advancement of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, ensuring that students benefit from educational opportunities built on cooperation, shared knowledge, and mutual growth across borders.

Workplan, Upcoming Activities and Merchandise

The SBAA Student Body outlined their plans and goals for the academic year, encompassing a range of academic and extracurricular activities. Students were encouraged to participate and contribute to making these initiatives a reality. The announcement of the Day & Night and Intramurals sparked excitement, as many students looked forward to showcasing their talents. SBAA also unveiled its official merchandise and polo shirts uniform, which not only foster school pride but also promote a sense of unity and belonging within the department.
