The 14th of February is among the most awaited days of the first quarter of the year as it embodies the celebration of love proliferated in everyone. Thus, students of the University of Baguio prepared their day around flowers, chocolates, dates with loved ones, and other activities that manifest the true essence of love. However, the School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) reached new heights to beat the ongoing propaganda of gift-giving associated with Valentine’s Day through the “Flex Your SBAA Polo Shirt” competition for Accountancy and Business Administration students last February 14, 2025.
Valentine’s Day is associated with capitalism from a universal viewpoint due to its inclination to the concept of gift-giving. In this regard, the SBAA student body found a way to energize and maximize student engagement and promote their organizational polo shirts among their constituents through the Flex Your SBAA Polo Shirt competition. In this event, the rules were clearly defined — participating students must wear their SBAA polo shirts on February 14, 2025, take a video or photograph of them wearing the said shirt, and post it on their social media accounts in the most creative way possible while tagging the SBAA Facebook page or their Instagram account at @ub.sbaasb. Each participating student could get the chance to win exciting prizes, whereas the winner will receive a PhP 500.00 cash prize.
At the beginning of the event, several students from the department showcased their creative embodiment of the SBAA polo shirt. Among the pool of participating students, Mr. Yariv Bruno, a first year Accountancy student was proclaimed winner as he flexed the polo shirt in action through a reel entry. He modeled the SBAA polo in style, providing ample oversight on the shirt’s usage in action. Similarly, several students also modeled with their shirts, eagerly participating to win the challenge with a sense of pride in their polo shirts.

The event is a manifestation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) number 4, which discusses the world’s movement objective towards attaining Quality Education, explicitly encapsulating the promotion of inclusive and equitable education and lifelong learning opportunities. The uniform usage on students signifies equalization among them while prioritizing on boosting students morale through experiences transcending the barriers of academic knowledge. Furthermore, it cultivated a sense of community among the students, enhancing school spirit, confidence, and connection with their peers, allowing them to curate a positive perspective toward their educational journey.
The Valentine’s Day Flex Your SBAA polo shirt competition from the SBAA student body was tagged as a success. The event coordinators were not just able to promote enjoyment as they beat the Valentine’s Day expense diffuse among the students. However, they also captivated the students’ eagerness to wear their designated uniforms within the institutional premises that stood as an emblem of inclusivity and equitable education amidst social class. In this regard, the resumption of the dress code system that emphasized school identity and unity was accomplished while simultaneously advocating the University of Baguio and SBAA principles of belongingness, pride, and unity.
