Strengthening Global Pathways: UB Hosts Taiwan Education Fair 2025

This year’s Taiwan Education Fair, organized by the University of Baguio – Linkages Office (UB-LNK) and held in partnership with the Taiwan Education Center, once again successfully upheld the institution’s commitment to internationalization and global academic mobility through an informative afternoon session involving several leading organizations for higher education.

Originally planned as an on-site event at the UB Cardinals Gym, the fair shifted to a virtual platform via ZOOM on September 22, 2025, to ensure that the students, exhibitors, and staff members remain safe from the ongoing typhoon while ensuring that the event remained accessible.

Anchored on CHED Memorandum Order No. 55 s.2016, the event was established to provide UBians with direct access to international learning opportunities, scholarships, and career pathways through its partnerships with fellow higher education institutions in Taiwan.

The Taiwan Education Fair also aligns with the university’s goal to attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs), namely:

  • Goal No. 4: Quality Education – Providing direct access to scholarships, overseas educational programs, and language courses, the university continues to expand learning opportunities and make higher and graduate education accessible for students and employees,
  • Goal No. 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – the event also highlighted the academic pathways that align with the demands of the global workforce, allowing students to shape their careers early on through their educational decisions, leading to organic professional development and sustainable economic growth, and
  • Goal No. 17: Partnerships for the Goals – collaborating with institutions such as the Taiwan Education Center and the different Taiwanese higher education institutions continues to strengthen UB’s growing network of international academic and professional linkages. Nurturing these connections continues to promote cultural exchange, research collaboration, and educational development.

A total of nine Taiwanese universities participated as exhibitors in the event:

  • Taipei Medical University
  • Chang Gung University
  • China Medical University
  • Kaohsiung Medical University
  • Tzu Chi University
  • National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences
  • National Sun Yat-sen University
  • National Chengchi University
  • National Dong Hwa University

Each university gave a comprehensive online presentation on their different program offerings and services, introducing the participants to the country’\s diverse academic landscape.

Approximately 500 participants attended the event from the university’s different schools and offices, with students, faculty, and university administrators alike stopping in not only to support the event, but to glean more insights into the possibility of studying internationally. This reflects the commuity’s dedication to academic excellence and their commitment to embracing learning opportunities both on a local and global level.

This year’s Taiwan Education Fair, though severely hampered by unfavorable weather conditions, still managed to conclude in high spirits. As UB continues to strengthen its linkages and partnerships with non-government organizations and fellow academic institutions, it carries on its journey to provide international learning opportunities for its students and employees. This ensures that UB continues to align with global standards and upholds its mission of nurturing globally competitive graduates who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to the local community and the world.

A special thank you is extended to Ms. Jennifer Yeh, the Taiwan Education Center Manager, for facilitating the partnerships that allowed this event to materialize, and to the International Affairs Staff of the Linkages Office, Ms. Angelica Tamayo and Ms. Mae Janica Palkit, for their efforts alongside Linkages Office Director Ms. Melanie Rulla-Saro in making this event a success.

See you at the next event, UBians!
