In support of SDG 5 on Gender equality, this leave allows fathers to care for their newborns and assist their wives, recognizing the important role family plays in overall employee happiness and productivity. The policy applies to all married male employees whose legal spouse has given birth, limited to the first four deliveries. To qualify, employees must notify the Administration within twenty-four hours of the birth, ensuring timely processing. The policy follows the national Paternity Leave Law, maintaining the university’s compliance with labor standards.

Eligible employees receive seven calendar days of paid leave starting from the day of delivery, reflecting the university’s commitment to fair treatment and helping staff balance family responsibilities without financial burden. This policy strengthens morale and engagement by offering a clear, fair way to take family leave during a crucial time.

During the 2024-2025 school year, three employees benefited from this leave: one faculty from the University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS), one staff member from the Medical and Dental Clinic (MDC), and one from the Campus Planning and Development Office (CPDO), showcasing the university’s ongoing support for working fathers and its family-focused workplace culture.
