The ROI of Kindness: UB Giving Inspiration, Fellowship, and True Service (G.I.F.T.S.)

Other Posts

As Edna Ferber said, “Christmas isn’t a season. It is a feeling,” and that feeling was alive and well on November 22, 2024, at the UB Cardinals’ Gym, when the University of Baguio celebrated its annual Christmas tradition, UB G.I.F.T.S. This activity highlights the University’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and community development. The event’s main goal was to spread the spirit of Christmas and entertain a diverse audience, including university students, faculty and staff, and invited elementary students from UB’s adopted schools. This event aligns mostly with SDGs 4: Quality Education, SDG 5: Gender Equality, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

In addition to the program, the event featured various competitions for the University’s Schools to participate in.

The Season of Giving, Artistry and Competitiveness

The School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) won Third Place with its “Willy Wonka”-themed booth. During the event, SBAA officers distributed loot bags filled with assorted candies and treats to the children and hosted games for booth-goers to enjoy. Exciting games included balloon popping, ring toss, cover the spot, and candy pong.

SBAA also participated in the University’s parol-making and music video competitions. The parol was crafted using recycled materials such as old papers, cardboard, and cloth. For the music video competition, SBAA students and officers showcased their creativity by lip-syncing, dancing, and editing a video based on the theme “Christmas in the University.”

The Christmas Decoration Making Competition was another highlight, where schools decorated their hallways with holiday-inspired ornaments and accessories. The SBAA floor was adorned with ribbons, garlands, and a Christmas tree placed in the locker area. The tree featured notes where students could write and hang Christmas messages.

Finally, the Choral Competition brought festive cheer as the choirs from different schools performed their renditions of “Carol of the Bells,” showcasing their musical talents.

The Spirit of UB G.I.F.T.S

Through UB G.I.F.T.S, we share and gain kindness, inspiration, fellowship, and true service. The event brings a sense of fulfillment that motivates us to continue fostering creativity, teamwork, and joy. The School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) remains steadfast in supporting and participating in such events, recognizing them as opportunities for growth and community-building.

Indeed, these efforts are an investment—one worth the risk!
