The Second-year to fourth-year students of the University of Baguio Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (UB JPIA) from the School of Business Administration and Accountancy won various positions in the Top 20 Finalists of the Cyber Accounting Genius (CAG) v14.0 with the theme, “The Demon of Debits: Cyber Accounting Genius v14.0 — Hunt the errors. Balance the truth. Shine like an idol,” held on November 3-11, 2025, via Facebook Private Group.
After a grueling five-wave elimination process, the prestigious regional competition organized by the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Region 1 and Cordillera Administrative Region (NFJPIA-R1CAR) has ended, positioning UB as a force to be reckoned with in terms of producing high-quality accounting students.
UB students moved on successfully from five challenging rounds of specific accounting problems out of a very competitive group from two large northern areas. In their unrelenting effort they came in for a rather astonishing presence on the official finalists leader board. In the final round, the following stand for the university are Brett Michaels Busoy, Fritzel Diale, Liam Aleccis Cabanit, Neil Rustin Codasi, Jemimah Kate Acop, Glory Ann Llamas, and Jerson Bugat.

UB’s excellence extends beyond awards and recognition to a contribution that has an immediate impact on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through holistic institutional development. The success of the qualifiers actively contributes to SDG 4: Quality Education by proving UB’s commitment toward providing a rigorous and high-achieving accounting curriculum that is prepared for students to participate in macro-regional platforms. Moreover, the technical skills and values acquired during this competition are directly contributing to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, as these young ones are shaping the next generation of economic leaders who will protect the economic transparency and corporate governance in the country. This is also a joint accomplishment that supports SDG 5: Gender Equality, showing that the university always creates an inclusive and empowering environment where everyone with a professional ambition has the same opportunities to lead, excel and overcome established gender stereotypes in the financial service sector.

Congratulations to our UB Finalists! The whole University community is rooting for you to win!
