The University of Baguio celebrated Women’s Month by organizing a mentoring seminar for women, called Womentor, with the theme “Women uplifting women.” This event aimed to empower women and help them learn new skills and knowledge from other successful women. The event was organized by the University of Baguio and the Junior Chamber International – Baguio Sunflower, and was held on March 9, 2023, at the UB Centennial Hall.
The keynote speaker for the event was Ma’am Christine Garcia, president of JCI National, who shared the story of how Womentor started and emphasized the importance of women empowering each other, especially in today’s society. The event was attended by a diverse group of women, including UB alumni and JCI members who volunteered to become Womentors.
This year, the focus of Womentor was on the business industry, with Womentors teaching women about the world of commerce. The Womentors who shared their knowledge and experience included PCpl Faith Forag, Lt. Trisha Pascual, Phoebe Ang, Ma. Milagros Flores, Jhead Rowe Mata, Juliane Ragudo, Jobelle Anselmo Batanes, Ma. Lady Viben Agupitan, Joan Jaja Marquez, and Mary Jane Ledda.
The Womentors provided valuable insights and advice to the attendees, including tips on how to start a business, how to navigate challenges in the workplace, and how to balance work and family life. They also shared their personal stories of overcoming obstacles and achieving success in their respective fields, inspiring the attendees to pursue their own dreams and goals.
The event was well-received by the attendees, who expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from successful women in the business industry. Many of them left the event feeling motivated and empowered, with a renewed sense of confidence in their abilities.
