The University of Baguio was invited by the Cordilleran Youth Center to join this year’s Liwliwa Ya Sursuro (LYS) 2.0: Baguio Youth Innovation Challenge with its Final Pitching and Recognition Day held last November 22, 2025, at the Baguio City Hall Multipurpose Hall.
The event brought together youth teams from across the city who have spent months developing innovative and community-focused solutions aimed at making Baguio safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable, attaining several UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the process emphasizing on SDG 4: Quality Education as each university presented their brilliant ideas turned planned projects that would benefit not only them but the community as well, SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure; as projects and infrastructure are part of their project in creating a progressive society and SDG 17: Partnership for the Goal as UB had signed a Memorandum of Agreement with CYC to join the mentoring, training and pitching for Liwliwa Ya Sursuro 2.0.

The culminating activity showcased the creativity and resilience of young innovators from different universities. The University of Baguio was represented by students from the School of Business Administration and Accountancy, under the team name UB SBAA Student Body, with the members RC Mae Payumo, Antonette Laya Obligado, Rhodaliz Pacada, Kristine Moe Ganapin.

They presented their ideas and showed their planned architectures to the distinguished panel of jurors, namely, Mr. Franz Erick Calanio, Ms. Kristianne Jemi Santos, Hon. Levy Lloyd Orcales, Engr. Bill Llonard Resurreccion, and Arch. Donna T. Tabangin.



Each team highlighted the issues they sought to address and demonstrated how their innovations could contribute to long-term improvements within their communities. From technology-driven solutions to socially oriented programs, the pitches reflected the youth sector’s growing commitment to active citizenship and collaborative problem-solving. Team UB SBAA had proposed a satellite market for the university’s partnered barangay, Barangay Pinsao Proper. The team showcased a proposed area, infrastructure, and potential budget for the project.

Although the UB SBAA proposal was not selected as the winning initiative, their work received commendation. Notably, Arch. Donna T. Tabangin expressed her interest in collaborating with the team, recognizing the potential of their project and offering support toward its possible development.
