The University of Baguio – School of Nursing (UB-SON) once again demonstrated excellence by emerging as Champion in the university-wide Marketing Video Competition during the recently concluded Dapit Ubiano 2025, held on September 8–10, 2025, with the theme “Retracing Footsteps in the Familiar.” The competition was organized as part of UB’s centennial celebration to highlight each school’s achievements, partnerships, and identity, while reflecting on the university’s heritage. For the School of Nursing, the entry highlighted how the institution commits itself to producing exceptionally competent and value-driven health professionals, nurturing future nurses who exemplify knowledge, skills, attitudes, and leadership in promoting holistic well-being.
This marked a back-to-back triumph for the School of Nursing, which also won the same competition in 2024. The winning entry stood out by capturing the School’s enduring legacy and vibrant present, featuring programs, activities, community involvement, international linkages, and alumni accomplishments—all reflecting UB-SON’s mission and objectives. The video showcased academic and clinical training, simulation-based learning, outreach services, and related learning experiences, demonstrating proficiency in healthcare delivery, ethical practice, and active community engagement. It also highlighted international programs such as the Bridge USA Summer Work and Travel Program (SWAT), the Global Skills Partnership with Germany, and the Student Exchange Program and Cultural Immersion in China, as well as inspiring alumni highlights, reinforcing leadership development, and global readiness among students.

The project was made possible through the strong support of the School of Nursing administration, including Dean Dr. Helen D. Alalag, Program Chair Ivy May V. Marbella, Level Coordinators Diana Marie D. Amwao,
Zorenne Basilio-Diwag, and Aissa D. Pater, clinical instructors, and students. Alumni contributions of video clips further strengthened the message of legacy and inspiration.
Despite full-day lectures, clinical duties, and skills laboratory sessions, students dedicated late nights to filming and editing. Director Chadray Guisa-ed (UB-SON SBO P.R.O.) led the overall creative direction, ensuring the project aligned with the School’s mission and values. He was assisted by Fannilyn Manipon (UB-SON SBO Secretary), who coordinated schedules and managed production flow under time constraints. Jonard Jay Cabang (UB-SON SBO Creatives Committee) meticulously edited the video, crafting a narrative that blended visuals, transitions, and storytelling, while Erik Joshua Mangaoang lent his voice to the narration, delivering it with tone and clarity that emphasized legacy, service, and global readiness.

The School of Nursing’s success demonstrated its strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By preparing graduates capable of promoting safe, quality, and accessible healthcare, UB-SON actively supports SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being through its focus on public health education, disease prevention, health promotion, and community health initiatives. Its innovative pedagogy, simulation-based instruction with Apollo, and evidence-based teaching reflect SDG 4: Quality Education, advancing inclusive education, professional development, and lifelong learning opportunities for students. Furthermore, its cross-border collaborations—such as the Global Skills Partnership and cultural exchange programs—embody SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, showcasing international collaboration and interdisciplinary engagement that enhance healthcare education and practice on a global scale.
The School of Nursing’s back-to-back championship at Dapit Ubiano 2025 carried a lesson for the UB community. It demonstrated that excellence results from resilience, teamwork, and dedication. Even with demanding schedules, students united to create a meaningful and impactful project. The experience also reaffirmed that nursing is more than technical skill; it is a profession requiring compassion, ethical practice, leadership, and innovation. This triumph reflects that when passion is guided by purpose, students can inspire communities, honor legacies, and contribute to building a healthier and more sustainable future.
