The University of Baguio Science High School (UBSHS) successfully hosted the District Science Fair 2025 on October 20, 2025, with the theme “Spatialize: Surveying Societies, Sensing Solutions.” The event aimed to enhance students’ inquiry, problem-solving, and collaboration skills through interactive and time-bound science challenges, supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Thea P. Suaco, School Principal, emphasized the value of perseverance and curiosity in scientific learning, stating that science “is not just about finding answers, but about embracing the race toward knowledge.”

Dr. Rey D. Gapasin, Public Schools District Supervisor, also graced the event and commended the University of Baguio for its partnership with public schools in organizing the fair. He highlighted that such collaborations demonstrate the shared commitment of educational institutions to promoting inclusive and high-quality learning opportunities.
A highlight of the fair was the InquiRace, a science-based challenge that tested participants’ inquiry and analytical skills through activities such as a science quiz, earthquake triangulation, microscope focusing, and projectile motion simulation. The event was facilitated by teachers from various participating schools and coordinated by Mr. Arnold Marzan, the school’s Laboratory Custodian.
After an intense 40-minute competition, UBSHS Team B, composed of Gabriel Timothy Abay (Grade 10), Jack Austria (Grade 11), and Zedrick Eidrian Balanon (Grade 12), emerged as first-place winners, while UBSHS Team A, represented by Huela Pearl Abratique (Grade 10), Charles Alrich Sia (Grade 11), and RV Jon Dalagan (Grade 12), secured third place.
The District Science Fair 2025 showcased the scientific knowledge, creativity, and collaboration of young learners. Through initiatives like this, the University of Baguio Science High School continues to advance quality education (SDG 4) and foster sustainable educational partnerships (SDG 17) within the community.
