The Philippine Association of Medical Technology – Baguio Benguet Mountain Province Chapter (PAMET-BBMP) held an interlaboratory Quiz Show on September 20, 2025, at Dumol Hall, BENCO, to celebrate Medical Technology Week 2025.
The event brought together medical technologists from nine public and private healthcare facilities, as well as academic institutions like the University of Baguio (UB), to test their knowledge and skills in the medical technology field.
The competition had three rounds, each with 15 questions, covering topics such as Laboratory Management, Blood Banking, Microbiology, Clinical Chemistry, and Molecular Biology. In the first round, Cordillera Hospital of the Divine Grace (CHDG) came out on top, followed by Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC). The second round, called the Average Round, saw BGHMC, CHDG, Saint Louis University – Sacred Heart Medical Center (SLU-SHMC), and UB all tied for the lead.
The Difficult Round, was different because4 participants had to write their answers without multiple-choice options. UB School of Natural Sciences (SNS) instructors Orly A. Ganotisi and Leoderic J. Serami Jr. performed well and won first place for the university. SLU-SHMC came in second, and CHDG beat BGHMC in a tie-breaker to get third.
The event also helped build friendships and support among professionals, showing how committed medical technologists are to learning and working together. UB SNS winning shows how dedicated the university is to improving education and healthcare. It also supports the United Nations SDGs: SDG 3, which aims for good health and well-being by improving health knowledge and practice; SDG 4, which encourages quality education through lifelong learning and professional growth; and SDG 17, which focuses on partnerships between hospitals, universities, and other groups.
This success reflects UB’s effort to advance education and healthcare, and it encourage future medical technologists to follow high professional standards.
