UBHS BSP & GSP Joint Investiture Ceremony 2025- “Tied with Purpose: UBHS Scouts Embrace Leadership and Stewardship”

On October 7, 2025, the University of Baguio High School (UBHS) proudly held its Joint Investiture Ceremony for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of the Philippines at the UB Centennial Hall — a meaningful celebration of commitment, leadership, and service. The ceremony stood as a testament to the school’s unwavering dedication to developing future leaders grounded in discipline, compassion, and civic responsibility.

Organized by UBHS Scout AdvisersMs. Maricris J. Gabriel (GSP), Mr. Nelson A. Odasco (BSP), and Mr. Jayvee R. Bueno (BSP) — the event marked a significant milestone in every Scout’s journey. The investiture was more than a rite of passage; it symbolized the beginning of a purposeful path dedicated to service, character formation, and community engagement.

As each Scout donned the neckerchief and recited the Scout Promise, they embraced a lifelong pledge to live by the ideals of Scouting — duty to God, country, others, and self. These values form the moral compass of every Scout and guide them in their pursuit of integrity, respect, and selfless service. The solemnity of the ceremony reflected not only the pride of achievement but also the humility of responsibility that comes with being part of the Scouting movement.

Adding prestige to the occasion were distinguished guests Dr. Violeta F. Apiles, UBHS Principal, and Ms. Jennifer T. Bugtong, GSP Executive of the GSP Baguio City Council. Their attendance underscored the school’s and the organization’s shared commitment to nurturing youth leadership through Scouting. Both leaders have long been advocates of empowering students to take an active role in community-building, and their presence emphasized the collaborative spirit between UBHS and the national Scouting movement.

One of the most memorable moments of the program was the inspirational message delivered by Sctr. Moises Forunato, JD, who challenged the Scouts to live with purpose, uphold integrity, and create meaningful change in their communities. He reminded everyone that true leadership begins with service — the willingness to help others without expecting anything in return. His words resonated deeply with the young Scouts, reinforcing the idea that greatness is not measured by position or recognition, but by compassion and positive action.

Parents and guardians filled the Centennial Hall with joy and pride as they witnessed this important milestone. Their presence symbolized the strong partnership among home, school, and community — a vital element in shaping well-rounded and responsible youth. UBHS recognizes that the path to leadership is best walked hand-in-hand with supportive families who nurture their children’s growth through guidance and encouragement.

Beyond the ceremony’s symbolism, UBHS continues to align its Scouting programs with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting the institution’s commitment to global citizenship and sustainability. The investiture highlighted SDG 15: Life on Land, emphasizing environmental conservation as a vital component of the Scouting mission. UBHS Scouts have actively participated in projects such as tree planting, campus clean-up drives, and waste reduction campaigns, cultivating in them a genuine respect for nature and a responsibility to protect the environment for future generations.

The event also underscored SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), which are integral to the Scouting and educational framework of UBHS. Through these initiatives, the school promotes holistic learning experiences that go beyond academics — fostering life skills, teamwork, leadership, and civic engagement. Collaboration between the Scouts, teachers, parents, and community partners reinforces the school’s vision of producing learners who are not only academically competent but also socially responsible and ethically driven.

As the ceremony drew to a close, the newly invested Scouts proudly stood tall, embodying the UBHS core values of integrity, service, and compassion. Each Scout left the hall with renewed motivation to live by the Scout Law — to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

The Joint Investiture Ceremony served as a powerful reminder that leadership begins at a young age — nurtured by guidance, strengthened by education, and sustained by a heart for service. Through Scouting, the University of Baguio High School continues to fulfill its mission of shaping responsible, compassionate, and service-oriented individuals who contribute meaningfully to society.

In every salute and every promise, the spirit of Scouting lives on — inspiring UBHS Scouts to serve with courage, lead with humility, and make a lasting difference in the world.
