UBHS Mobilizes 147 Baguio Scouts for the Global Jamboree on the Air and Internet 2025

October 18, 2025 – University of Baguio, Baguio City. The University of Baguio High School (UBHS) proudly hosted 147 Boy Scouts from ten public and private schools across Baguio City for the 68th Jamboree On the Air (JOTA) and 29th Jamboree On the Internet (JOTI), celebrating the theme “A World Shaped by Youth.”

This global event, organized under the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), remains one of the world’s largest digital and radio-based youth gatherings. It empowers Scouts to connect with peers around the world through radio communications and online interactions, building international friendships and fostering a deeper understanding of cultural diversity, peace, and cooperation.

The BSP–Baguio City Council partnered with the Cordillera Amateur Radio Emergency Service, Inc. (CARES), whose six seasoned members mentored the Scouts in radio operations, emergency communication, and digital networking. This dynamic learning experience allowed participants to connect with Scouts across the globe in real time—turning communication technology into a bridge for peace and solidarity. The collaboration directly supports UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, These partnerships exemplify cross-sector cooperation, sharing of resources, and community engagement to achieve common developmental goals.

And SDG 4: Quality Education, as it encourages meaningful learning and cross-border teamwork. The event provided a unique, technology-driven learning experience beyond the traditional classroom. Through hands-on training in radio operations, emergency communication, and global digital networking, Scouts gained valuable knowledge and practical skills in communication, technology, and leadership.

This global event not only celebrated the power of technology and communication but also highlighted the university’s dedication to fostering 21st-century skills among learners.

Through the JOTA-JOTI platform, UBHS provided an avenue for experiential learning, international collaboration, and civic engagement, all of which embody the transformative ideals of meaningful education. Students and Scouts alike were immersed in a dynamic environment that cultivated digital literacy, global awareness, teamwork, and leadership—key competencies essential in today’s interconnected world.

By facilitating this initiative, UBHS reaffirmed its role as a trailblazer in innovative education, empowering young individuals to merge technology, communication, and social responsibility. The event ultimately strengthened the students’ sense of purpose and belonging, inspiring them to become responsible digital citizens and active contributors to positive change—locally, nationally, and globally.

Through their participation, the Scouts exemplified how the integration of digital innovation and community service can foster responsible leadership and global citizenship. Engaging with peers from across the world, they explored ways to address shared challenges while promoting mutual understanding, cultural appreciation, and sustainable development. The use of amateur radio and internet platforms allowed for the seamless exchange of ideas and collaboration that transcended geographical boundaries.

More than a technological event, JOTA-JOTI 2025 became a celebration of unity and purpose. It connected voices, ideas, and aspirations from diverse communities, reinforcing the belief that today’s youth hold the power to build a more inclusive and sustainable future. In aligning with WURI’s vision, UBHS continues to champion education that not only imparts knowledge but also inspires innovation, compassion, and real-world impact—proving that learning is most powerful when it bridges people, nations, and hearts.
