Reinforcing its strong commitment to academic excellence and faculty development, the University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School (UBLES) proudly recognizes Mr. Keanwort Ambros, Grade 5 and 6 Mathematics Teacher, and Mr. Harvey Velasquez, Science 5 Teacher, for serving as facilitators during the National ASMEPPS SCI-DAMA Elementary Level Competition held on February 20–21, 2026, at Easter College Incorporated, Guisad, Baguio City.

The national event was organized by the Association of Mathematics Educators and Practitioners of Private Schools (ASMEPPS), bringing together educators and learners from across the country to promote excellence in Science and Mathematics education. As designated facilitators in the elementary category, Mr. Ambros and Mr. Velasquez played a vital role in ensuring the smooth implementation of the competition mechanics, upholding standards of fairness, and supporting young learners as they demonstrated their analytical and problem-solving skills through the SCI-DAMA platform.

Their involvement in the national SCI-DAMA competition highlights UBLES’ active participation in academic initiatives that strengthen the quality of STEM education and support the professional engagement of educators beyond the classroom. Through their service, they helped maintain the integrity, academic rigor, and collaborative spirit of the competition while contributing to meaningful learning experiences for participating schools.

Beyond the competition, their participation reflects the broader institutional commitment of the University of Baguio to advancing sustainable and quality education. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The activity supports SDG 4 – Quality Education by strengthening teacher competence and encouraging continuous professional engagement in Science and Mathematics instruction. By participating in national academic events such as the SCI-DAMA competition, educators gain valuable insights, share best practices, and contribute to the improvement of teaching strategies that enhance learner outcomes.

The initiative also aligns with SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, as it demonstrates collaboration between UBLES and national educational organizations such as ASMEPPS, as well as partner schools and institutions. These partnerships foster knowledge exchange, professional networking, and collective efforts to improve the quality of education across schools and communities.

As a laboratory school, UBLES continuously invests in professional growth opportunities that enhance instructional delivery and learner outcomes. The active involvement of Mr. Ambros and Mr. Velasquez in national-level academic engagements ensures that UBLES learners benefit from updated practices, enriched instructional strategies, and exposure to competitive standards in Science and Mathematics education.

The University of Baguio Laboratory Elementary School remains steadfast in its mission to nurture academically competent, ethically grounded, and future-ready learners—strengthened by faculty members who lead not only within the classroom but also in national academic platforms.
