Physical therapists are more commonly recognized as experts in the fields of sports, musculoskeletal, and neurologic conditions.  Little did most people know that these professionals are also front liners in pressure injuries and functional mobility, even in the early stages of the acute phase of rehabilitation.

In its journey to build the next generation of physical therapists, the UB School of Natural Sciences (SNS) invited back an esteemed alumna, Ms. Janice Agaya Mariano, for an enlightening information session with the Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) interns. Ms. Mariano’s lecture served as an inspiration for the students to look up to, showcasing the bright future in healthcare that they have ahead of them.

Ms. Janice Agaya Mariano inspired the eager generation of BSPT interns on June 15, 2023, with her brief and informative lecture on the vital role of physical therapists in wound care and management.

These interns continue to face the challenges of being molded into globally competent physical therapists as the SNS BSPT program continues to provide mentoring activities for its alumni.

This initiative is one of many that are geared towards supporting the provision of quality education at the University of Baguio. Such activities enhance the academic studies and practical training that the students receive from UB, ensuring that they can grow professionally to be able to address the needs of an ever-changing world.
