Upholding its commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, the University of Baguio continues to champion initiatives that promote safe, inclusive, and affordable living spaces for its students. Recognizing that access to suitable housing directly impacts student well-being and academic success, UB has established strong collaborations with various accredited dormitories across Baguio City to ensure that students have access to quality accommodations at fair and reasonable rates.
Through the Office of Student Affairs (OSA), the university implements a comprehensive policy, procedures, and guidelines known as the Student Housing and Residential Services Accreditation as part of the Enhanced Policies and Guidelines on Student Affairs and Services.. This policy ensures that all partner dormitories and boarding houses meet UB’s standards of safety, comfort, affordability, and student-centered service. The OSA conducts thorough evaluations and inspections of housing facilities before granting accreditation, verifying that each establishment provides a conducive environment that supports students’ academic life and personal growth.
The university maintains and regularly updates a list of accredited student housing facilities, which serves as a reliable guide for both local and international students in selecting accommodations that meet their needs and financial capabilities. By creating partnerships with these dormitories, UB helps regulate housing costs and ensures that students are not subjected to exploitative or inconsistent pricing, a meaningful step toward housing equity and community sustainability. Also, these accommodations are very accessible to students by walking as most of them are located in nearby barangays, such as New Lucban, T. Alonzo, Upper Bonifacio, and General Luna, among others.
Through these deliberate and student-focused measures, the University of Baguio continues to uphold its dedication to creating an environment where education, safety, and sustainability intersect, empowering students to thrive in a community that values accessibility, inclusivity, and responsible urban living in line with the vision of SDG 11.
