On February 8, 2025, the University of Baguio High School (UBHS) Philosophy & Values Education Department collaborated with the ICT Department to facilitate a computer literacy discussion and experiential activity titled “Navigating the Digital World: An Interactive Computer Literacy Experience.” This event aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by enhancing digital literacy skills among participants. Additionally, it exemplifies SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as it demonstrates collaborative efforts between educational institutions and community organizations to support sustainable development initiatives. The partnership was part of their ongoing collaboration under a Memorandum of Agreement between UBHS and DSWD-RRCY. The session took place from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the MF04 Computer Laboratory in the Legacy Building.

Ms. Pamela M. Butz and Mr. Dy-an Rodriguez from the ICT Department served as resource speakers, bringing their expertise to enrich participants’ understanding of computer literacy skills and basic netiquettes. They led engaging discussions and activities that empowered attendees with valuable skills.

Eighteen clients from DSWD-RRCY, led by Mr. Bernard Cadaon Jr., Social Welfare Officer I, and the Supervising Social Worker of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for the Youth (RRCY) of the Department of Social Worker and Development – Field Office CAR (DSWD FO CAR) who headed a team of social workers from RRCY, participated alongside nine clients from Haven for Women in this activity. They were accompanied by social workers in charge from each center.

The event began with registration, followed by a prayer, singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and a warm-up exercise. Ms. Esther Masielle P. Flores welcomed participants before introducing Ms. Butz as she initiated her session on basic netiquettes and introductory computer concepts.

Mr. Rodriguez then facilitated an interactive application using gamified elements based on these concepts to encourage participant engagement through cooperation.

After a short health break, Mr. Rodriguez continued with a hands-on session on using Canva Application under the theme “Career Discovery”. Participants worked individually on computers while following his step-by-step demonstration aimed at inspiring them toward career aspirations through visual outputs showcasing their dream careers.

The activity concluded with certificate presentations to both resource speakers and participants, followed by an evaluation form distribution for feedback collection along with group photo opportunities marking successful collaboration among departments under Dr. Marivic B. Mutong’s leadership alongside assistant principals Ms. Jenett C. Flores & Ms. Margie S. De Vera.

This initiative aligns with UBHS’s commitment outlined in its MOA agreement focusing on providing relevant mini-lecture series aiding reintegration efforts within community settings while contributing to achieving SDG 4 by enhancing digital literacy among vulnerable groups through collaborative partnerships that embody SDG 17.
