More than 400 academic leaders and school administrators from various regions across the country gathered at Saint Louis University (SLU) for a pivotal two-day training on the Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum. Held from October 13 to 14, 2025, the event aimed to assist school administrators in preparation for the next academic year and to
align educational efforts with global goals.
The event specifically achieved Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education by assisting more than 400 school administrators and academic leaders nationwide. The University of Baguio contributes to improving the effectiveness and quality of secondary education. The training’s focus on the Strengthened Senior High School (SHS) Curriculum ensures that administrators are well-equipped to implement updated, globally aligned learning frameworks that prepare students for higher education, employment, and lifelong learning, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by uniting trainers, administrators, and policymakers, the initiative fosters collective action toward achieving sustainable educational reforms that align with both national priorities and global standards.
The training was led by Dr. Gina Montalan, Senior High School Consultant of the Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), who served as the keynote resource speaker. Dr. Montalan provided critical updates and insights into the changes introduced under the Strengthened SHS Curriculum, focusing on its alignment with current industry needs and
global competencies.

Four of the eight facilitators of the training were UB national trainers: Dr. Veronica M. Bito, Dr. Roselle G. Aniceto, Dr. Julius T. Gat-eb, and Mr. Angelo V. Manis. Their expertise ensured dynamic sessions that combined theoretical frameworks with practical applications, enabling participants to craft strategic plans for implementation in their respective institutions.
Among the attendees were notable academic leaders Dr. Thea P. Suaco and Dr. Violeta Apiles from the UB Science High School, and UB High School, respectively, who actively participated in collaborative workshops and planning discussions throughout the two-day event.

The event not only prepared administrators for the forthcoming school year but also fostered collaboration, reinforcing the importance of shared learning and collective progress. As the Department of Education intensifies efforts to modernize and
improve curriculum delivery, this training serves as a critical milestone in equipping school leaders to champion transformative changes in their institutions—ensuring that Philippine education remains globally competitive and locally responsive.
