The School of Business Administration and Accountancy (SBAA) of the University of Baguio implemented wearing the Departmental Polo Shirt as an initiative to foster unity and identity among its students. The new uniform is now a mandatory attire of the students every Friday, marking a significant step in building a cohesive and professional image for the department.
This initiative began on 30th of June, 2024. A poll was made by the SBAA Student Body on their official Facebook page, inviting students to vote for their preferred design along with the specific day of wearing the polo shirt. The result of the poll emerged revealing that Design #1 as the clear favorite, and students agreed to wear their departmental shirts every Friday. Following the response to the poll, the Student Body moved into action and began accepting pre-orders for the shirts on July 31, 2024, to ensure that students had plenty of time to secure their shirts before the mandatory implementation date. The first and second batches of the polo shirts have since been distributed. This initiative has transformed Fridays into a day of vibrant departmental spirit and unity as students proudly wear their SBAA polo shirts. The Departmental Polo Shirt is mandatory for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year students, although 4th-year students are not required to purchase or wear the shirt, they are encouraged to do so as a way of demonstrating solidarity and pride in the department.
This initiative goes beyond aesthetics, highlighting the importance of unity and professionalism among SBAA students. As the students wear the polo shirt, it demonstrates their affiliation with the department as well as their commitment to its values. It is a reminder of the shared goals and aspirations that bind the SBAA community. As the Departmental Polo Shirt continues to gain momentum, the initiative is poised to become a cherished tradition within the School of Business Administration and Accountancy.
“Wearing the departmental polo shirt of SBAA makes me feel more connected with other students from our community and much more engaged in our department. Furthermore, wearing an SBAA polo shirt symbolizes the unity within our school, which also makes me feel more comfortable around our peers and makes me feel as part of the SBAA community,” Shyrille stated as she wears and is one of the models of the Departmental Polo Shirt.
“The SBAA polo shirt is perfect for representing the department in campus activities or events. At an affordable price of ₱500, it balances style and quality, making it an excellent choice for students,” Rafael added, sharing his thoughts about the Departmental Polo Shirt initiative.
As the Fridays of the University of Baguio are now marked with a vibrant display of SBAA Polo Shirts, it transforms the campus into a sea of unity and pride. This simple yet powerful initiative demonstrates that small actions can indeed create a lasting impact which sets a remarkable example of collective spirit and solidarity among the University of Baguio’s Business Administration and Accountancy students.
