BAGUIO CITY –  In pursuant to the Proclamation No. 397 – DECLARING THE PERIOD FROM 03 TO 09 NOVEMBER OF EVERY YEAR AS THE “PHILIPPINE CRIMINOLOGY PROFESSION WEEK”, the University of Baguio’s School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety (UB-SCJPS) proudly joined the celebration of the 2nd Philippine Criminology Profession Week last November 13-14, 2025 with the theme: “Strengthening Justice and Security in the Digital Age.” This event aims to give tribute to the criminologists by honoring their dedication, integrity, and service for the continuous upholding of peace, justice, and public safety up until now in the new era, the digital age.

The two-day event held on the 8th floor of the RCB Building under the Department of SCJPS, in collaboration with the University of Baguio ROTC Unit, the Color Guards Organization, the SCJPS Student Body, the Forensic Science Society, and the Faculty and Staff, served as an important platform for showcasing the skills, knowledge, discipline, and leadership of criminology students. Designed to empower both alumni and current students, the event emphasized the value of applied learning and community engagement within the criminology program.

Aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, the program strongly supported SDG 4: Quality Education by offering students a diverse range of academic and experiential activities. Faculty members facilitated major competitions, including the Quiz Bee, Debate, and Extemporaneous Speech, all of which were aimed at enhancing critical thinking, creativity, ethical reasoning, and communication abilities. These skills are fundamental in shaping responsible and competent future professionals in the field of criminal justice.

The event also reflected the commitment to SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. Booth exhibits on polygraphy, questioned document examination, photography, fingerprinting, ballistics, and traffic management allowed students to interact with specialized tools and concepts essential to maintaining justice and public safety. These hands-on learning experiences helped deepen the students’ understanding of the critical role they will one day play in strengthening legal systems and promoting peace.
