One of the highlights of the event was the distribution of 100 hygiene kits to the elementary learners of Gumatdang Integrated School from the University and donations from the UBHS students. Library and gardening materials, made by the UBHS learners, were also donated to GIS. This initiative, facilitated by the UBHS teachers, aimed to promote health, cleanliness, and well-being among the students. The simple yet meaningful act of giving reflected the University of Baguio’s commitment to community service and its advocacy for holistic development beyond academic instruction.
The signed Memorandum of Agreement outlines a comprehensive framework for collaboration between UBHS and GIS. Rooted in shared values of inclusive education, learner-centered instruction, and community involvement, the agreement establishes a partnership that seeks to enhance the academic, social, and personal development of learners. It recognizes the vital role of experiential learning and outreach programs in enriching both educators and students.

Under the terms of the agreement, the University of Baguio High School commits to organizing and implementing a variety of programs and activities designed to support Gumatdang Integrated School. These include educational support initiatives such as reading enhancement, tutorials, and peer mentoring; the development of library and reading areas through donations of books and learning materials; and the introduction of urban gardening and environmental education programs. Additionally, UBHS will conduct skills training, enrichment workshops, and counseling sessions that focus on values formation, mental wellness, and personal growth.
The agreement also provides opportunities for Gumatdang Integrated School learners and teachers to participate in a school tour at the University of Baguio, further expanding their exposure to academic environments and opportunities. Moreover, both institutions commit to continuous collaboration through program evaluation, documentation, and improvement, ensuring that the partnership remains responsive to the needs of the learners and the community.
On the part of Gumatdang Integrated School, the agreement outlines responsibilities that include identifying beneficiaries, ensuring learner participation, providing safe and appropriate facilities, and maintaining the sustainability of programs such as library development and environmental initiatives. The school also commits to upholding student welfare, supervision, and alignment with Department of Education policies throughout the implementation of all activities.
The MOA is set to be in effect until March 26, 2027, with provisions for renewal based on mutual agreement and positive evaluation of the programs. It also includes strict confidentiality and non-disclosure provisions to protect the privacy of learners and the integrity of program data.
