SAMUT PRAKAN, THAILAND – On April 1, 2026, the Team HCU Thailand of Cl Maharagsik ‘26 participated in an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training led by the Poh Teck Tung Foundation—a volunteer rescue organization, hosted by Huachiew Chalermprakiet University (HCU) of Thailand. The initiative provided hands-on experience in essential emergency response skills, highlighting the value of preparedness and collaboration in the field of public safety and emergency response.

The training began with a lecture, where the instructors outlined the objectives and safety protocols. The students were introduced to the equipment they will use, such as the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), the right way of donning PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and the like. Followed by this was the simulation of an emergency scenario where the students assumed different roles and responded to the scenario by performing basic life support, assisted in transportation of patients, and clearing the area.

The exercise in the simulation served to develop the fundamental abilities of the students by exposing them to a realistic high-pressure situation. In addition, it helped develop their practical abilities in Basic Life Support, patient handling and scene management, as well as building confidence when handling real-life emergency situations. The exercise instilled a sense of responsibility and readiness in the students to prepare them to act efficiently and safely when faced with similar situations in the future.

This aligns with key Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG #3: Good Health and Well-being, as the training enhances the students’ capacity to respond effectively in medical emergencies, thereby promoting health and safety.
SDG #4: Quality Education, the training guided by the Poh Teck Tung Foundation and facilitated by HCU, provided meaningful, practical, and skills-based learning experiences.
SDG #8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, preparing students for safe, competent participation in the workforce, particularly in critical service sectors.
SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, by developing competent responders who essentially contribute to safer and more resilient communities.
