The University of Baguio is on a mission to become a greener and more sustainable campus through the integration of innovative vertical gardens. These transformative gardens are set to revolutionize the way we think about urban spaces and environmental sustainability. It is an innovative and sustainable way of growing plants in urban spaces by utilizing vertical surfaces such as walls or containers. This gardening technique enables individuals to maximize space, improve air quality, and add aesthetic appeal to their surroundings.
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in enabling participants to acquire practical skills and knowledge in designing, implementing, and maintaining vertical gardens.

In collaboration with the Horticulture Department of Benguet State University under the supervision of Dr. Leila Mary Ayban, the Seminar-Workshop on Vertical Gardening took place to equip our employees in General Services as well as NSTP Facilitators. The University of Baguio, committed to sustainability and innovation, is initiating the integration of transformative vertical gardens across its campus.

The vertical gardens pursue the Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, it explored the impact of vertical gardens on SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being; SDG 4: Quality Education, SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production; and SDG 15: Life on Land.

The University is setting an example for other institutions to follow in their efforts to create a greener and more sustainable future. With the launch of these vertical gardens, the University of Baguio is truly leading the way towards a more environmentally conscious and eco-friendly campus.
