The speakers for the orientation are the Safety Officers of the UB-OSHCOM
On April 26, 2025, the FGB Hall became a hub of safety awareness as 43 UB employees participated in the Mandatory Eight-Hour Safety and Health Orientation (4th Batch). The speakers are OSHCOM Safety Officers. The orientation aimed to equip the employees with essential knowledge on workplace safety protocols, emergency preparedness, and health regulations. The program emphasized creating a safety-conscious culture, empowering employees to identify hazards, respond effectively to emergencies, and contribute to a healthier, safer university environment.
The training was instrumental in strengthening safety awareness and preventive practices among employees to ensure the safety of the students.
The orientation supports the following SDGs:
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
Ensures that the employees are aware of the health risks and safety practices in promoting a healthier and safer work environment to reduce workplace injuries and contribute to overall well-being. The MESH Orientation highly contributes to good health and well-being of both the students and employees in a way that it ensures that no one will suffer from injury during working hours or learning hours; it develops a health and safety culture where it becomes the second nature to everyone; it demonstrates or tell the things necessary to do in order to manage health and safety in a better way; it meets the legal duty in protecting the health and safety of the employees and students; it will contribute towards making the personnel competent in health and safety; it helps the institution to avoid distress that accidents and incidents will cause; and it helps the institution to avoid financial loss because of some unforeseen circumstances.
• SDG 4: Quality Education
Provides employees with essential safety knowledge and skills, contributing to lifelong learning and skill development. If all employees are equipped with a high level of training most especially with safety and health, they can share it with their students and also, they can be able to maintain the safety and health during their work performance in their designated position. Students who are being aware about safety and health will probably know on how to mitigate the impact of an unforeseen incident. Educating individuals with informative safety and health topic helps in molding everybody’s perception to change their old habits.
• SDG 5: Gender Equality
Ensures that safety orientations are inclusive and accessible to all employees regardless of gender, promoting equality in the workplace safety practices.
• SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
Supports safe working conditions, enhances productivity, and complies with Occupational safety standards, fostering sustainable economic growth.
• SDG 17: Partnership for the Goals
Encourages collaboration between different departments, safety organizations, or external partners and deliver effective safety training.
