DUGONG UB 2023: The University’s commitment to the Community

Other Posts

The University of Baguio, spearheaded by the School of Natural Sciences, continues its commitment to be of service to the community through its Dugong UB bloodletting program.

In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Baguio chapter, the university organized two (2) bloodletting activities during the first semester of AY 2023-2024. The first was held last September 25, 2023 which led to the collection of 65 whole blood units while the second was last October 10, 2023, with a total of 46 whole blood units collected. Both of these events were held at the UB Centennial Hall.

The success of these activities is the result of the combined efforts of the SNS ECOS coordinator and faculty members, PRC-Baguio personnel, BSMLS interns, and the SON faculty and students. However, the true heroes of these events are the blood donors who have willingly given a part of themselves for the well-being and the lives of patients in need.

This is just one of the many ways by which the university takes part in the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG#3 – Good Health and Well-being.
