The morning’s opening program featured encouraging messages from members of the UB’s partner institutions in Indonesia and Thailand. Professor Rhisa Aidilla Suprapto (S.T. M. Sc), a Senior Lecturer from the Architecture Department spoke on behalf of the Universitas Amikom Yogyakarta, while Assistant Professor Sirisak Laochankham (Ph.D.), the Dean of the College of Local Administration (COLA) spoke on behalf of Khon Kaen University.

Following the opening ceremonies, the floor was opened for students to explore the booths set up by the different organizations and higher education institutions. This gave them a chance to interact with professionals and students from the different agencies and to ask questions that will help them make an informed decision on what they want to do with their academic and professional careers moving forward.
The afternoon session featured career talks and exploratory meetings with Pearson Vue and Texas Instruments, exploring the exceptional resources and prospects both organizations offer to the university’s students. Mr. Mark Joseph Flores, the Manager of Pearson Vue, explored the different applications of the agency’s testing credentials to further their professional and academic careers. The Linkages Office also explored work opportunities with Texas Instruments, discussing the positions and designations they are currently looking for to expand their team.

The BRIDGE 2: International Education and Internship Fair was a rousing success, seeing an estimated 300 attendees from the different schools in the university. A total of 20 exhibitors were present during the program, comprising of 6 foreign educational institutions, 11 industry partners, and 3 government agencies. Students left the Cardinal’s Gym with pamphlets and brochures in hand and new information that will help them to decide if they will pursue the opportunities presented to them. Many of them left optimistic and excited for the road ahead, already considering the various possibilities laid out before them.
Apart from being an extension of the university’s mission statement, the event is also a means to pursue the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, it seeks to address Goal No. 10: Reduced Inequalities by bringing learning and professional opportunities to every student regardless of their background, giving them access to resources necessary to build a more fulfilling and successful future. It also addresses Goal No. 17: Partnerships for the Goals, as it strengthens the bonds between the university and its different partner institutions, allowing the university to extend its network of resources necessary for achieving the other goals in the SDGs.
