The University of Baguio’s newly renovated laboratory chemistry rooms of the School of Natural Sciences (SNS) are now ready to accommodate students for the Academic Year 2023-2024. The UB SNS utilizes rooms B406, B607, B706, and B707 for chemistry laboratory subjects, which are offered in allied and non-allied courses. It is a major concern to prioritize the student’s safety, thus the renovation of these laboratories was prioritized.

As regulations and safety standards evolve, the renovation project of the University of Baguio on its laboratories becomes necessary to ensure that it will meet or exceed these requirements. This includes updates to ventilation systems, emergency protocols, chemical storage, and the installation of safety equipment, ensuring the well-being of students, faculty, and employees. The renovation also incorporated eco-friendly features such as energy-efficient lighting, water-saving systems, and materials with a lower environmental footprint.

These changes reduce the university’s laboratory environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future through its observance of SDG No. 12: Responsible Consumption and Production. It also reconfigures layouts, adds collaborative spaces, and optimizes workflows. This enhances the overall productivity of the laboratory, enabling students at the University of Baguio to make the most of their time and resources.

Renovated laboratories not only provide a better learning environment but also attract top talent and maintain the university’s reputation by catering to various departments such as SCJPS (School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety), SEA (School of Engineering and Architecture), SOD (School of Dentistry), SON (School of Nursing). As for its mission, the Central Supply Room is committed to helping the University of Baguio educate individuals to be empowered professionals in the global community by providing them with complete, good-quality supplies, facilities, and equipment.
