In-service training schools for teachers are given importance to equip them with new knowledge and skills for them to face new challenges and reforms in education (Jala, 2022). In today’s era, dynamic research environment, staying updated on state-of-the-art methodologies, ethical considerations influenced by advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI), and publication norms are integral for navigating the realm of academic research. The Research Innovation Extension and Community Outreach (RIECO) hosted the two-day INSET seminar-workshop to equip both teaching and non-teaching employees with necessary research related skills and knowledge.

The event featured knowledgeable speakers in research and Artificial Intelligence. On the first, Dr. Warren Moyao from the School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety discussed Qualitative and Quantitative Research Approaches using AI, while Dr. Marilou M. Saong from the School of Natural Sciences addressed Responsible Advising and Scopus Indexed Journal Publication with AI assistance. In the afternoon, Atty. Emerson G. Cuyo, Deputy Director General of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines, shared insights on Intellectual Property Rights related to Research and Innovation via Zoom.

The following day of the event, the speakers shared their insights in their areas of expertise. Dr. Victor Hafalla, Jr., a faculty member of the School of Engineering and Architecture, presented on Quantitative Research Instrument Reliability and Content Validation. Mr. Miguel Villacrusis, from the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts, discussed JAMOVI Applications in Research.

That afternoon, the event transitioned into the Mentorship program where attendees were divided into four clusters. Each cluster was led by a pair of experienced mentors. The cluster-based mentoring approach allowed for more focused discussions and personalized guidance from the knowledgeable mentors to the attendees.

With this, the event directly contributes to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of the country, Specifically, SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The University of Baguio maintains its commitment to promoting excellence and perfection in the field of research and innovation.
