Success is truly achieved when efforts are executed with passion and purpose. The University of Baguio‘s School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (IHTM) has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development through a meaningful community initiative.

On November 24, 2024, students and faculty from the School of IHTM joined forces to plant pine tree seedlings at the Baguio Botanical Garden, contributing to the mission of the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) to plant at least 15,000 pine tree seedlings annually. This remarkable endeavor aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), Climate Action (SDG 13), Life on Land (SDG 15), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

This initiative not only highlights the collective effort of students and faculty in supporting the environment but also exemplifies their dedication to fostering a greener, more sustainable future. The team successfully planted over 300 pine tree seedlings, underscoring their active role in preserving Baguio City’s iconic greenery and combating climate change.
The activity is more than just tree planting; it is a testament to the University of Baguio’s commitment to creating environmentally responsible citizens. Through this project, the School of IHTM has made a tangible impact while fostering environmental awareness and strengthening partnerships within the community.

The University of Baguio’s continued efforts to support CEPMO’s goals inspire others to take part in environmental initiatives. This shared commitment ensures the preservation of Baguio’s natural beauty for generations to come, embodying the spirit of sustainable development in action.
