UB Calls for Global Research Fellowship Participants at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU), India

The University of Baguio (UB), in alignment with its Faculty Development Program (FDP) for Academic Years 2020-2025, seeks to nominate qualified faculty members for the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (NJYGRF) at O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) – India’s only private university recognized as an Institution of Eminence.

This initiative directly supports UB’s commitment to faculty excellence, research development, and international collaboration. Hence, this call for applications to the Jindal Global University Research Fellowship. Please refer to the following details for your guidance:

About the Naveen Jindal Young Global Research Fellowship (NJYGRF)

The NJYGRF is designed to empower exceptional Ph.D. scholars and early-career faculty members (below 42
years) from around the world through:

  • Collaborative Research across disciplines
  • Global Mentorship with leading faculty
  • Academic Skill Building through intensive writing and research workshops
  • Cultural Immersion into India’s rich heritage

Fellows will participate in a one-month on-campus residency at JGU, where they will engage in interdisciplinary
research, attend high-impact lectures, and experience global academic networking at its finest.

NJYGRF Application Requirements

A. Eligibility Criteria

General Requirements:

  • Ph.D. scholars or early-career faculty members
  • Below 42 years of age
  • Strong research background and potential
  • Commitment to a one-month residency


UB-Specific Requirements:

  • Must be a permanent faculty member of the University of Baguio
  • Demonstrated research competence with completed research output/s
  • Good performance evaluation ratings (outstanding evaluation rate)
  • Submit all the requirements enumerated by NJYGRF to the HRMC for checking On November 4, 2025

B. Required Documents for NJYGRF Application

Submission Deadline with NJYGRF: November 10, 2025

All applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Updated and comprehensive, including all academic credentials, research experience, and publications
  • Statement of Purpose (SOP)
    – Clear articulation of research interests
    – Alignment with fellowship objectives
    – Expected outcomes and contributions
  • Academic Credentials
    – Official transcripts from all universities attended
    – Certificates of degrees earned
    – Professional licenses (if applicable)
  • Copy of Passport
    – Valid for at least 6 months beyond the fellowship period
    – Clear, readable copy of all relevant pages
  • A Recent Photograph
    – Passport-size, professional quality
    – Taken within the last 6 months
  • A Recommendation Letter
    – From School Dean or Department Head
    – Highlighting research competence and professional qualities
    – Supporting fellowship application
  • Problem Statement/Research Idea (up to 500 words)
    – Clearly articulate a research challenge or question to explore
    – Highlight its academic significance and global relevance
    – Present the proposed approach or methodology
    **Note: This will be used to align fellows with appropriate research clusters and mentors

Application Submission Process

Budget and Financial Arrangements

A. NJYGRF Fellowship Coverage
Based on typical fellowship provisions (to be confirmed):

  • On-campus accommodation at JGU
  • Meals during the residency period
  • Access to all academic activities and workshops
  • Cultural excursions and field trips
  • Certificate of completion

B. UB Faculty Development Fund Allocation
Proposed budget items for UB coverage:

  • Travel Expenses
    – Round-trip international airfare: Philippines to New Delhi, India
    – Ground transportation (airport transfers, local travel)
    – Travel tax and terminal fees
  • Pre-Departure Expenses
    – Passport processing/renewal (if needed)
    – Indian visa application and processing fees
    – Travel insurance
    – Health and accident insurance (comprehensive coverage)
    – Medical clearance and vaccinations
  • Living Allowance (if needed beyond fellowship provision)
    – Living allowance: the university will provide for food @ 1,200/day or P36,000 (30 days); and
    – Stipend @ 1,200/day or P36,000 (30 days). The stipend covers the incidental allowance and communication expenses.
  • Research Load equivalent to the UB Scheme based on the level of research

Faculty Fellow Responsibilities

Before Fellowship: 

  • Prepare a complete and competitive NJYGRF application 
  • Secure all necessary internal approvals from UB 
  • Arrange teaching load coverage with the department 
  • Attend all pre-departure orientations 
  • Ensure passport and visa validity 

During Fellowship: 

  • Full-time commitment to fellowship activities 
  • Professional representation of the University of Baguio 

After Fellowship: 

  • Timely submission of all required reports and documents 
  • Multiple presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions 
  • Integration of learnings into teaching and research 
  • Completion of research and publication targets (1 personal research and 1 collab research with a mentee to be both published on a Scopus-indexed journal) 
  • Fulfillment of the two-year service obligation to UB 3.6. Mentoring other faculty in research development

School/Department Responsibilities

Before Fellowship: 

  • Encourage qualified faculty to apply 
  • Provide a strong endorsement for competitive candidates 
  • Arrange teaching load coverage during absence 
  • Support research proposal development

During Fellowship: 

  • Monitor fellow’s progress and welfare 
  • Provide support if challenges arise 
  • Maintain communication with fellow 
  • Plan for fellow’s return and reintegration 

After Fellowship:

  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing activities 
  • Support research completion and publication 
  • Integrate learnings into department initiatives 
  • Provide a platform for continued growth
